This week’s ESG stories highlight continued momentum behind clean energy, supply-chain decarbonisation and natural resource management. Major corporates including Amazon, lululemon, BP, Iberdrola, Microsoft and Anthropic are directing capital toward offshore wind, renewable electricity, green hydrogen, water replenishment and carbon removal, showing how sustainability investment is increasingly being tied to long-term infrastructure, operational resilience and future growth.



Amazon, BlackRock and Skyborn sign Germany’s largest offshore wind PPA.


Amazon has signed a 600 MW power purchase agreement with Skyborn Renewables for electricity from the Gennaker offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea.


The long-term deal, backed by Global Infrastructure Partners, part of BlackRock, is described as the largest single PPA ever signed in Germany and one of the largest in Europe. The agreement covers around 61% of Gennaker’s planned capacity and is expected to provide revenue certainty for the project, supporting construction of Germany’s largest Baltic Sea wind farm.



lululemon backs China renewables fund.


lululemon has invested in a renewable energy fund in China to help reduce emissions across its supplier network.


The fund is expected to support the company’s aim of reaching the equivalent of 100% renewable electricity with suppliers in Mainland China by 2030. The move forms part of lululemon’s wider Scope 3 strategy, which targets a 60% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions intensity by 2030 from a 2018 baseline. It highlights the growing focus on supply-chain decarbonisation, particularly for consumer brands with manufacturing footprints across Asia.



BP and Iberdrola secure €240m for Spanish green hydrogen expansion.


BP and Iberdrola have secured a €240 million boost for green hydrogen development in Spain, supporting the expansion of clean fuel infrastructure at BP’s Castellón refinery.


The funding will help advance one of Spain’s largest green hydrogen projects, aimed at replacing fossil-based hydrogen used in industrial processes. The project is expected to support the decarbonisation of refinery operations while strengthening Spain’s position in Europe’s emerging hydrogen economy. Green hydrogen remains a key focus for hard-to-abate sectors, where electrification alone may not be enough to reduce emissions.



Microsoft hits water replenishment milestone.


Microsoft says it replenished more water than its operations used in 2025, marking an important milestone in its plan to become water positive by 2030.


The company has been investing in water restoration projects across regions facing water stress, alongside efficiency measures across its operations and data centre footprint. The achievement comes as technology companies face increasing scrutiny over the environmental impact of rapid AI expansion, particularly around energy and water demand. Microsoft’s update highlights how major tech firms are under pressure to balance growth in digital infrastructure with stronger natural resource management.



Frontier adds Anthropic to carbon removal buyers group.


Frontier Climate has added Anthropic to its carbon removal buyers group and announced $915 million in new financing commitments to support permanent carbon removal technologies.


The new funding brings Frontier’s collective commitment to around $1.8 billion, with backing from major technology companies including Stripe, Google, Shopify, Salesforce and Anthropic. The initiative is designed to give early-stage carbon removal companies clearer demand signals and help scale technologies such as direct air capture, enhanced rock weathering, biomass-based removal and ocean alkalinity. The deal reinforces the role of large technology firms in driving demand for high-integrity carbon removal.
