Renewable electricity generation has overtaken coal globally for the first time, according to new data from Ember. Renewables produced 5,072 TWh in the first half of 2025 compared to coal’s 4,896 TWh, driven by rapid solar and wind expansion in China, India, and the US The shift marks a major milestone in the global energy transition, signalling accelerating progress toward decarbonised power systems.



Liverpool and Real Betis Recognised at Sport Positive Awards.


Football clubs are leading sustainability efforts in sport, with Liverpool FC and Real Betis among the winners at the 2025 Sport Positive Summit in London. Liverpool’s “The Red Way” programme earned the Transformation Award for cutting emissions by 15% and achieving 90% recycling, while Real Betis was honoured for its marine conservation campaign “Sin Azul No Hay Verde.” Both clubs were praised for embedding environmental action into core operations.

Mars and Cargill to Build Over 100 Solar Projects in Europe.

The installations will provide renewable electricity to manufacturing sites and supply chains, supporting both companies’ goals to cut Scope 2 emissions and improve energy security.
